Brig. Gen. Angela Salinas
commands the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.
She's the keynote speaker at
IMAGE de San Antonio's Women's Equality Day celebration
Saturday. IMAGE is a national Hispanic organization that works
for professional advancement and against discrimination.
The organization also is
honoring UT-Austin journalism Professor Maggie Rivas-Rodriguez
and Lisa Suárez, a San Antonio actress and an artistic director
at the Jump-Start Performance Co.
Salinas is the first Latina to
rise to the rank of brigadier general in the Marine Corps. Her
South Texas connection: she's originally from Alice.
