HOLLYWOOD, Fl. (By John Miranda) August 10, 2007
— Latina real estate businesswoman Laura Solis
starts her own graphics company to satisfy the
growing advertising needs of her real estate
firm and attract savvy customers in the trendy
South Florida marketplace. Hailed as one of the
500 fastest growing privately-held businesses in
America by Entrepreneur Magazine, Presidential
Realty Group was founded by Laura Solis in
Hollywood, Florida in 2000. With only 12% of the
HOT 500 being woman owned, Solis, originally
from Peru, was exceptionally proud to receive
this accolade. “I love this country. I came here
for the opportunity to start a business and live
the American lifestyle and now I’m living my
dreams.”
Opening her first office in the highly
competitive South Florida real estate market
initially proved to be quite challenging for
Solis, and one of her biggest challenges was to
recruit and retain talented and ambitious people
for her firm. While other firms were stealing
talent from each other, Solis decided to take an
unconventional approach to the business. She
took it upon herself to become a certified Real
Estate instructor and opened Presidential
Schools. This created an avenue to discover
fresh talent and she was able to select
exceptional students to mentor and train as Real
Estate agents.
Her skill at finding unique ways to overcome
challenges has been what has helped Solis
succeed and has set her firm apart from the
competition. Solis recognized that buyers and
sellers in today’s market are very savvy. It
soon became apparent that a high-tech approach
would be necessary for her and her agents to
remain competitive. Cutting edge advertising and
marketing were crucial to the survival of the
business. “Dollars spent on graphic design,
layout and media were cutting directly into my
profits, so I decided to bring it all in-house
and develop my own” said Solis. “I began
purchasing high resolution copiers, printers,
cameras and media and I taught myself the
graphics software programs and dove right in.”
Born out of all of this was “PRESIDENTIAL
GRAPHICS”, a small business with big ideas.
Today Presidential Graphics is now handling not
only the advertising needs of Presidential
Realty Group and Presidential Schools, but is
now creating innovative and cutting edge
graphics and media campaigns for other
companies.
Running three companies simultaneously would
prove to be overwhelming for the average person
but not for Solis. “If you want to survive in
this ever-changing real estate and financial
market, you have to constantly reinvent
yourself” says Solis. “Being chosen by
Entrepreneur Magazine affirmed my belief that
I’m headed in the right direction, I’m proud to
be recognized as one of the HOT 500 in 2007.” |
